APCHA moves home repair grant proposal forward | News

The Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority Board of Directors sent a new home repairs grant pilot program to the Pitkin Board of County Commissioners and the Aspen City Council for approval. 

The program would award grants of up to $5,000 to homeowners to assist with repairing critical damage on their homes. The grants would not need to be repaid, and would only serve as funding assistance and a starting point for a pilot program.

A car that flew off a road and crashed through the second story of a home has left an elderly couple homeless.

A white Subaru went off the road behind the home of Penny Arant, 75, and her husband Robert, 69, and landed through above the porch through the upstairs window. Their home in Colfax, California, sits next to a turn after a long straight road.

Home Repair Fraud: Scammers going door-to-door for “work”

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is issuing another warning to residents about a home repair fraud operating in the region. They say it’s very similar to reports that popped up last summer.

The Halton police issued a warning to residents in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville about a home repair fraud operating in the region.
