Since 1978, the Home Repair for the Elderly Program (HREP) has helped Fairfax County residents who own or reside in their own homes make repairs and accessibility improvements to allow them to continue safely residing in their homes — as well as reducing utility costs through plumbing repair and energy efficiency. Sacramento City Council members this week approved a pilot program that would give homeowners thousands of dollars for emergency repairs.The Justice for Neighbors Emergency Home Repair Pilot Program would give $15,000 for needed repairs to those who qualify. The requirements include the home needing to be owner-occupied or to be a single-family home with an income that is at or below 80% of the local median income. Driving down Gaylord Street on the East Side of Binghamton, one house sticks out.

South Bend Home Repair Program pays for roof, furnace replacements

SOUTH BEND — A city program will pay for major repairs to homes in poorer neighborhoods on the west and southeast sides.

Through South Bend’s Home Repair Program, homeowners in census tracts where at least a quarter of households live below the federal poverty line are eligible for up to $20,000 from the city to repair or replace their roof and furnace, according to Executive Director of Community Investment Caleb Bauer.
