Home repair scammers working their way through Halton – bayobserver.ca Hamilton, Burlington and GTA

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is issuing a warning to residents about a home repair fraud operating in the region.

The fraud involves contractors travelling door-to-door selling services that are unsolicited by a consumer. These services include but are not limited to chimney repair, general masonry work, step and driveway repairs and general debris cleaning or roof repairs and waterproofing.

The suspect may provide a quote with prices lower than market value and once a deal is reached, will ask fort a large cash payment.

Based on previous complaints, initial work may start, however the crew will not return

With the advent warmer weather comes the beginning of home repair scam artists knocking on residents’ doors

Halton Police advise residents to keep and eye out for the following behaviours:
