Bolton at Home: Mum’s frustrations over housing repair delays

Kelly Reynolds, 48, who lives on Cherry Tree Avenue, says that there was damp and mould in her kitchen, which was especially bad in her living room.

Kelly was compensated for the delay by Bolton at Home – which has since carried out “extensive” damp and mould repairs.

This meant they needed to plaster her walls, and remove the wallpaper, but Kelly says she is frustrated over the “state” her house has been left in.

She said: “It’s really upsetting because I have lived here for 22 years.

Habitat for Humanity details Home Repairs Program | Hawarden Independent/Ireton Examiner

IRETON—Siouxland Habitat for Humanity has a new program for Sioux County residents to consider.

Sioux County director of Habitat for Humanity Kurt Franje shared details about the new Home Repairs Program with the Ireton City Council during its Monday meeting.

“This program is to help homeowners who meet income eligibility guidelines to maintain their homes and keep their community thriving,” Franje said. “The program’s focus is exterior work and accessibility to preserve a home and the owner’s ability to live in it.”

Projects can include modifications to help accessibility like ramps, level handles and door modifications; roof and porch repair

Senior home repairs build better health, strengthen community

Elderly residents shouldn’t have to worry about falling off of their front porches.

Fewer will, thanks to a home repair program managed by Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance.

The organization’s long-time housing repair program received a boost through a recent grant that helps seniors stay safe in their homes. Grant funds will allow the agency to undertake major and minor repairs for 32 homes in the west-Detroit neighborhood.

For Cody Rouge resident Chris Bond, 80, the agency’s help meant a dry basement after a plumbing backup in January, something she couldn’t afford to fix herself.

ATLANTA – Georgians are being warned of home repair fraud and other scams following recent storms throughout the state.

PACE program offers home repair option for Florida residents

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — As delays mount for residents waiting for home improvement grants from the My Safe Florida Home program, another program that offers loans to homeowners is gaining some attention.

Hardening a home against storms isn’t cheap, and one way to do it is with a state program that utilizes private money to give homeowners loans.

The PACE Funding Agency loan program allows individuals to perform home improvements like replacing their roofs and windows.

PACE stands for Property Assessed Clean Energy, a state program that utilizes private money.

State Rep. Mike Caruso, R-Delray Beach, brought it
